Io no ha un uovo.

I do not have an egg.

I began preparing myself for studying in Florence by completing applications, mailing a lot of checks, learning Italian, reading travel books, and questioning my emotional ability to live approximately 4877 miles away from everything I've ever known about... 8 months ago. I have been officially accepted to study with Academic Programs International, an amazing group that has made this process easy and very exciting. I made about 24 different budgets and sworn at least 600 times to save my $5 for an espresso in Italy rather than a Peanut Butter Banana Fudge Cook Out milkshake. And somehow, I convinced myself that I will be okay if I don't eat peanut butter for four months. "I do not have an egg," is the only sentence I am confident saying in Italian so far, but it's a sentence, right? Maybe I'll be able to correct an error made at a cafe on a Sunday morning. And as for my family and friends, they will be here before I leave, while I'm in Italy and when I come home. I know that not getting on the plane in January would be the biggest regret of my life; I also know that traveling to Italy is one of the most incredible experiences of a lifetime.

  1. It's great we're all still connected through the Internet, no problem being 4-5k miles out of town ;)

Enjoy your trip. Perhaps you'll find some distant Italian relatives while you're there, eh?
